Abi Mustapha-Maduakor

CEO, African Private Equity and Venture Capital Association

Abi is an ecosystem builder committed to the sustainable economic development of emerging markets through public policy and private investment. She is currently CEO of AVCA - the African Private Capital Association, where she oversees strategy, partnerships, and innovation towards building a sustainable private capital industry in Africa. Abi's career spans financial management and structuring, international trade, and investment policy in Europe and Africa. She has held previous leadership roles as the COO of AVCA and more recently as the Head of Business Operations and Finance at MedAccess (a subsidiary of British International Investment, the UK's development finance institution). Abi was Special Adviser to the Minister of Industry, Trade and Investment in the Federal Republic of Nigeria, responsible for policy programmes to spur private sector investment and SME growth. She began her career in structured products at the Royal Bank of Scotland and Lloyds Banking Group, qualifying as a Chartered Accountant through Ernst & Young. Abi holds various Board and Committee roles in non-profit and for-profit organisations in the UK, including World Vision, London Chamber of Commerce, and Marula Square. Abi holds an MBA from Saïd Business School, University of Oxford and Masters degree in Chemical Engineering from Imperial College London.
