Karim Haggag

Professor of Practice, American University in Cairo; Fellow, Middle East Initiative, Belfer Center, Harvard Kennedy School

Ambassador Karim Haggag is a career Egyptian diplomat with over 25 years of service in Egypt’s diplomatic corps. He is also a Professor of Practice at the School of Global Affairs and Public Policy (GAPP) at the American University in Cairo, and a non-resident fellow at the Belfer Center for Science and International Affairs, Harvard Kennedy School of Government. Throughout his diplomatic career, he has focused on Middle East regional security, arms control and non-proliferation, conflict resolution, and Arab-Israeli diplomacy. From 2011-2013 he was a visiting professor at the Near East and South Asia Center for Strategic Studies National Defense University in Washington DC. Ambassador Haggag is also currently a Senior Advisor at LYNX Strategic Business Advisors, Egypt’s leading government relations and public policy consultancy. He is a graduate of The American University in Cairo, and has earned an MA in war studies from King’s College in London.
