Rich Gomel joined Two Sigma in April 2021 as a Partner and Chief Investment Officer of Two Sigma Real Estate. Mr. Gomel manages the overall activities of Two Sigma Real Estate, including its team, strategic direction and portfolio management and fund management activities, and is a member of Two Sigma Real Estate’s Investment and Valuations Committees. Mr. Gomel has held several investing and operating leadership roles at global real estate firms. From 1998 to 2011, Mr. Gomel worked at Starwood Capital Group and Starwood Hotels, most recently as Managing Director. During this time, he served as CEO of a Starwood Capital Group portfolio company, Groupe du Louvre – which was a take private of a French listed company that had a global presence with over 6,000 employees and over 1,000 properties worldwide. Following Starwood, Mr. Gomel was one of the original partners responsible for building J.P. Morgan Asset and Wealth Management’s opportunistic real estate business, Junius Real Estate Partners (“Junius”). At Junius, Mr. Gomel was a Partner and Senior Investment Officer investing across all asset classes and parts of the capital stack. Prior to joining Two Sigma in 2021, Mr. Gomel was the Managing Partner of ARK, the real estate investment platform of WeWork, and was responsible for all of ARK’s business activities globally. Mr. Gomel has served on various boards, including Groupe du Louvre, Baccarat, Hersha Hospitality Management, and 21c Museum Hotels. Mr. Gomel is a graduate of Cornell University and holds an MBA from Harvard Business School.
