Brook Taye

CEO, Ethiopian Investment Holdings

Dr. Brook Taye is the CEO of Ethiopian Investment Holdings (EIH) which is the Sovereign wealth fund of the Federal Democratic Republic of Ethiopia. EIH's portfolio consists of 27 state owned entities including the flagship carrier Ethiopian Airlines and Africa's 2nd largest telecom provider, Ethio Telecom. Before taking the realm at the Sovereign wealth fund Dr Taye served as the Director General of the Ethiopian Capital Market Authority, the entity that is mandated to regulate the securities market in Ethiopia. Dr. Brook also served as the Senior Advisor to the Ministry of Finance of Ethiopia. He worked on the Ministry’s ambitious economic transformation strategy including the privatization and liberalization activities of the Government, liability management and optimization of sovereign debt issues and sectoral and state-owned enterprise reform undertakings. Before joining the Ministry of Finance, Dr. Brook worked as an Investment Fund Manager for a private equity firm in Florida and as an Economist and Regulatory Analyst for a banking law firm in New York. Dr. Brook has a Ph.D. from UniversitéParis-Saclay, his Ph.D. research focused on high growth entrepreneurial firms in Ethiopia. He also has a master’s degree in law and economics from the University of Bologna, University of Ghent and University of Aix-en-Provence and a Law degree from the School of Oriental Studies at the University of London.
