Michael Grossman

Managing Director, Impact Investments, Social Finance

Michael Grossman is Managing Director at Social Finance, where he leads its impact investing work.  Previously, Michael was at New Island Capital, where he established its mission-oriented lending business and made market-rate loans to social enterprises, financial intermediaries, and nonprofits in renewable energy, sustainable agriculture, natural foods, education, and financial inclusion in the U.S. and emerging markets.  Michael managed the international impact investing portfolio at the Calvert Social Investment Foundation, worked as a senior advisor to McKinsey’s Social Sector Office, and was senior director for Africa at the Millennium Challenge Corporation, a U.S. government agency, where he developed grant programs to support inclusive economic growth. Previously, Michael served as Managing Director and Citigroup Country Officer in Tunisia, overseeing the day-to-day management of commercial and retail operations. While at Citi, he also served as Citigroup Country Officer in Senegal, as a senior operations officer in Morocco, and helped create Citibank's regional capital markets business based in the Ivory Coast. Michael has an M.S. in Finance from the MIT Sloan School of Management, and a B.S. from Georgetown University’s School of Foreign Service. He is a Chevalier in Senegal’s National Order of the Lion.
