Crystal Miller
Crystal M. Miller is an associate director on the Environmental and Social Innovation team at Milken Institute Strategic Philanthropy and a change agent committed to using her talents to positively impact lives. Born and raised in Cincinnati, OH, her family instilled in her the importance of giving back to her community. Miller graduated from Hampton University with a bachelor's degree in business finance in 2005. She is an alumna of the National Urban Fellows program, earning her master’s in public administration from Bernard M. Baruch College at City University of New York in 2012.
At the Institute, Miller is the associate director of Gun Violence Prevention. She carries the title of change agent with tremendous responsibility, ensuring that her work is flooded with care, empathy, and authenticity. She began her work in gun violence prevention in 2011 with the vision of helping communities and individuals live thriving lives. Miller connects her passion to a desire for her own community, which she feels could have benefited from more opportunities and become a safer haven for its residents.
Miller has nearly 20 years of experience improving processes, managing projects, developing policies and programs, and overseeing operations. Before joining the Milken Institute, she was the associate director of Gun Violence Prevention for the City of Baltimore. Miller has extensive experience expanding the impact of programs focusing on violence intervention and prevention, youth engagement, Black male engagement, and protective pay legislation. In her free time, she volunteers with Olivet Food Pantry, based in Cincinnati.
Miller is an explorer, a lifelong learner, a motivator, a protector, and a creator of results. While most of her work focuses on reducing violence and uplifting communities, she is also motivated to create space for her three nieces to grow up empowered and encouraged to follow their dreams.
