Europe is facing its largest refugee crisis since World War II. In the weeks since Russia invaded Ukraine, more than 5 million* people have fled to the European Union, and flight has not abated. Afghans and Syrians remain the largest recent global displacements with more than 8 million registered refugees forced to relocate. In the face of multiple conflicts, mass displacements, challenges to asylum, and funding gaps between needs and resources, relief efforts are further complicated by racial discrimination and scarcity of food and heated shelter. While national responses vary, the business community has mobilized to deliver more immediate relief, but significant challenges remain. How are public-private partnerships addressing immediate and long-term solutions for both refugees and internally displaced populations? Is there a coherent vision for social and economic integration into host communities? Panelists will survey the shifting landscape of refugee crises in the face of conflict, climate change, and complacency worldwide.
