This session will open with remarks by Kasey Altman, Founder, Kasey Altman Research Fund, followed by a panel discussion on Making the Case for Patient Engagement.
The idea of user-centered design is well accepted in virtually every area of business innovation—designing and building new products with the insights and engagement of end users all along the path from concept to market. As in many areas of business innovation, however, product development in health care seems to lag behind. Researchers and developers are beginning to engage with patients in a more regular and meaningful way, but questions persist about the best approaches to design development and the likely return on investment on all sides. Panelists will examine the state of the art and explore the science of user-centered design in healthcare and product development.
