Over several decades, the LGBTQ+ community has made tremendous gains in representation—from public figures and sports professionals to community leaders. Visibility matters, affirming the self-worth of individuals and expanding the understanding and empathy of society. But what happens after the trailblazers have broken down barriers and shown what's possible? Even in socially advanced countries like the US, profound systemic challenges persist for the most marginalized in the community. In some countries, LGBTQ+ people still lack not only representation but fundamental human rights. When is representation not enough, and where are action and investment still needed? In this panel, an inspiring group of stakeholders joins LGBTQ+ luminaries who laid the foundation for the next generation. The dialogue will explore their personal stories, how they pushed through adversity, and how they continue working to improve the fortunes of others.
