Dr. Cade Brumley was appointed the Louisiana State Superintendent of Education in June 2020. He has invested his entire professional career into improving the lives of Louisiana students, serving as a teacher, coach, assistant principal, principal, district leader, and superintendent. As State Superintendent, Dr. Brumley has led statewide COVID-19 mitigation efforts, resulting in the 3rdmost aggressive return to school plan in the United States, according to the American Enterprise Institute. He created the “Louisiana Comeback'' campaign, a statewide effort to recover learning loss caused byCOVID-19 and catastrophic hurricanes. Dr. Brumley also launched the “Louisiana Literacy'' initiative, providing system leaders, educators, and families with innovative tools and resources to support children on a statewide push for a reading revival. Most recently, Dr. Brumley established The Protect Louisiana Schools: Hurricane PreparednessCommission, Louisiana’s first statewide commission centered on solidifying public school core infrastructures and creating operational best practices for school systems and leaders during hurricanes.
