Mr. Clayton is a Deputy Director of Global Equity with the $270 billion dollar New York State Common Retirement fund. He leads a team of 6 investment professionals that manage over $150 billion dollars. As of 2021, the pension had over 1 million beneficiaries. Prior to joining the Investment Staff in 2011, Mr. Clayton served a Senior Investment Analyst focusing on Hedge Funds and Private Equity Strategies, as part of the investment team at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, which managed the billion dollar Endowment and Pension plan of the Institute. Mr. Clayton started his career at the former Merrill Lynch & Co. in the Global Wealth Management Division. He received a Master of Business Administration from Clarkson University, and a Bachelor of Science from SUNY at Potsdam. AiCIO magazine recognized Mr. Clayton in the 2021 NextGen CIO class of 25 rising stars driving innovation in institutional asset allocation. In 2015 Institutional Investor magazine Mr. Clayton received the – Investor Intelligence for his work in Public Equity He is a member, National Association of securities Professionals, a member of SUNY Potsdam Foundation Board Trustee- Investment Committee, and member of Avon Old Farms African American Alumni Association counsel.
