Pinchas Cohen
Pinchas Cohen, MD, is the dean of the USC Leonard Davis School of Gerontology at the University of Southern California. Cohen graduated with highest honors from the Technion Medical School, trained at Stanford, and held faculty positions at the University of Pennsylvania and UCLA. His research focus is on the emerging science of mitochondrial-derived peptides, which he discovered. Cohen published over 350 papers and has an h-index of 94. He has received numerous awards for his research, including a National Institute on Aging "EUREKA" Award, the NIH Director Transformative RO1 Grant, the Glenn Award for Research in Aging, the AFAR Breakthroughs in Gerontology (BIG) Award, and the Irving S. Wright Award of Distinction in Aging. He is an elected fellow of the Gerontological Society of America and was named PBS-Next Avenue Top 50 Influencers in Aging. He is a past president of the Growth Hormone Society. He is a member of the National Academy of Inventors, holds several patents for novel micropeptides and is the cofounder of CohBar (CWBR), a clinical stage biotechnology company. He leads new initiatives focusing on technology and “precision aging.”
