The bipartisan Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act, 2021 made a long-overdue down payment of $550 billion in federal funding. This investment will repair roads, bridges, and rails, fix water systems, and provide broadband access for millions in the rural US. Studies estimate that the nation will need to leverage public-private partnerships and other innovative solutions to close the $10 trillion resilient infrastructure gap predicted for 2050. How can we unlock such innovations and investments at scale? Bridging the infrastructure gap will require public and private-sector collaboration to accelerate inventive infrastructure financing, catalyze a pipeline of next-generation infrastructure investments, and incentivize private investment in shovel-ready projects. Panel members will discuss creative solutions that compound the effect of federal infrastructure investment to meet the demands of climate resilience and needs of US communities.
