Associate Director, Health Economics
Katherine Sacks is an associate director in health economics on the research team at the Milken Institute. Her research concerns health equity, health disparities, and the social determinants of health, focusing particularly on adverse maternal birth outcomes, as well as the effects of the social safety net on measures of population health.

The Research team applies a systematic process of inquiry utilizing the collection, analysis, and interpretation of information to answer a specific question or solve a problem. We aim to generate new knowledge, validate existing knowledge, and develop new theories or methods by creating interactive tools that allow for additional data segmentation. The tools illustrate the findings in the publications and allow users to understand the results by interacting with the data.

Our research team of PhD economists utilizes quantitative and mixed methods methodologies to produce interactive tools, presentations, and short—and long-form publications. Our Research and Reports are typically used in governmental, academic, corporate, and nonprofit sectors to drive informed decision-making, shape policies, and promote effective strategies for addressing issues or improving current practices.
